This retreat is designed to strip away distractions so you can be fully present. Here's what that looks like.
The location is a secret. For the inaugural retreat, the venue is not disclosed publicly. You'll receive a meeting point no less than 2 weeks before the retreat date — less than 2 hours from Minneapolis. From there, you'll be transported by private bus. You won't know where you're going until you arrive. That's part of it.
No one introduces themselves on arrival. At check-in, your blindfold goes on before you see another participant. When the blindfolds come off at the lodge, no names are exchanged. No roles, no titles, no hierarchy. Everyone spends the entire first day as equals. Friday night at The Fire Ceremony, deep in the woods, every man finally speaks his name and who he is. This is intentional.
Your phone, wallet, and keys are collected at check-in. Everything is secured and returned to you at the end of the weekend. You will have one phone call per day (up to 5 minutes) if you need it. Your emergency contact will be given the host's direct number before the retreat begins — they can reach you immediately in any emergency.
Exceptions are made with context. Medically necessary items are always permitted — medications, CPAP machines, anything prescribed. Nicotine sources (vape, dip, patches) are permitted. If you have a unique situation, just let us know. We're reasonable people.
No alcohol. No drugs. This is a completely substance-free weekend. No exceptions.
Pack light. You won't need much.
- 2–3 comfortable shirts (no logos, no branding — keep it plain)
- Pants or shorts for each day
- Socks and underwear
- Comfortable shoes (you'll be on trails, gravel, and grass)
- Swim trunks (lake access)
- A jacket or hoodie (June nights by the lake can get cool)
- Toiletries — toothbrush, deodorant, the basics
- Any prescribed medications
That's it. No watches, no jewelry, no branded gear. The point is to show up as yourself — not as your wardrobe.
