What happens on the bus ride home?

No blindfolds this time. Each man gets 60 seconds to say one thing to the bus — not a speech, one sentence. Then silence for the last 15 minutes. Phones are returned in the parking lot. The last thing you hear before re-entering the world is quiet — not noise.

Why are phones collected?

To strip away the single biggest distraction in your life so you can be fully present. Your phone, wallet, and keys are collected at check-in and securely stored until Sunday. You'll have one phone call per day (up to 5 minutes) if you need it. Your emergency contact will be given a direct number to reach you through staff at any time.

What if I have a medical condition or take medication?

Medically necessary items are always permitted — medications, CPAP machines, anything prescribed. Nicotine sources (vape, dip, patches) are also permitted. Your health information is confidential and helps our team prepare appropriately. You will not be judged or excluded. Just let us know in your application.

What should I bring?

Pack light: 2–3 comfortable shirts (no logos or branding), pants/shorts, comfortable shoes for trails and grass, swim trunks, a jacket or hoodie for cool June nights, toiletries, and any prescribed medications. That's it. No watches, no jewelry, no branded gear. The point is to show up as yourself — not as your wardrobe.

What's the sleeping situation?

The lodge has 6 bedrooms with a mix of king beds, queen beds, and bunks. It sleeps 20+ comfortably. You may share a room with 1–3 other men. It's a lodge — not a hotel. That's part of it.

No. This is a completely substance-free weekend. No alcohol, no drugs, no exceptions. Men in recovery are welcome and will be in a safe environment.

Can I leave early if I need to?

Yes. You are not being held against your will. If you need to leave for any reason, we will arrange transportation back to the meeting point. No judgment, no questions. But we'd encourage you to push through the discomfort if it's not an emergency — that's where the growth happens.

Yes. The Heroes' Journey Scholarship Fund exists so that money is never the reason a man doesn't get the help he needs. 1–2 scholarships are available per session. You can opt out entirely, either in your application or at check-in, and if you do you will not appear in a single image. For men who do consent, faces may still be obscured in anything published. This documentation is for us, to remember what the first one felt like, not for marketing.
